Hello everyone and welcome to another iteration of the Burglars Incorporated blog post (it’s been a long time since I last said that), my name is Rahul and I’ll be the author of today’s blog post.
Over the past few months there have been many changes made in terms of Burglars Incorporated, some in terms of the game itself and some in terms of our team.
The first thing I’d like to mention is that unfortunately Abigail, our character artist, had to leave the team in order to focus on other work, and we all at the Forgotten Pixel team wish her the best of luck for the future. Due to this we have had to hire a new character artist to ensure progress on Burglars Incorporated carries on smoothly, so I’d like to welcome Stephen Harris to the team. Even though Stephen has only recently joined the team, he’s already been making some progress in terms of the character art of the game, and below you can see some examples.
Another major change that has happened in terms of Burglars Incorporated is that we have decided to change the viewpoint of the game, switching it from an isometric viewpoint to a more top-down viewpoint. There are many reasons that led to this change, one of these reasons is the fact that it makes it much easier to produce the environmental art and provides a higher level of consistency between the art. The other reason that led to this change was the fact that we felt it looked nicer and would be a much better fit for the type of game we wanted to produce. Below you can see a side-by-side comparison of Otto’s Arcade with the new and old perspective and we’re sure that even you will feel that the new perspective looks much more aesthetically pleasing.
I won’t go into too much detail about our individual progress in this blog post since there is just way too much to mention, but in our next blog post I will create a summary of what everyone has been working on recently. Rest assured though, everyone has been making progress in all departments of the game and we hope to be able to show it off, rather than just write about it, very soon.
That is all for today’s blog, we hope you enjoyed hearing about the progress being made on Burglars Incorporated after a while. There have been some changes made to the scheduling of our blogs (as you might have noticed), so now rather than Burglars Incorporated blog posts being released twice a month (on the 8th and 22nd) we will now have one blog post each month on the 15th. If you’d like more information on why these changes were made, you can read more in the opening of this Demon Debug blog post.
