Hello everyone and welcome to the second iteration of the '2D-Platformer Game' blog, my name is Rahul and I’ll be your host for today. Firstly, 2016 has gotten off to a great start, with lots of progress being made on the project, and we even had a new member join the team.
In the 30 days since the last blog, we have gotten a new prototype working, started creating artwork, began composing a soundtrack to fit in with the game, and got some awesome ideas which will leave you amazed. I would love to share these ideas with you, but we’ll keep them a secret for now so no-one steals them, and so it is even better when it is revealed in the actual game, rather than it being spoiled through the blog.
Unfortunately, at this stage, I cannot show you any of the progress we have made as it is not currently of a high enough standard, but I can talk about it in brief detail. Firstly, the main aim of the game is to make it be casual, difficult yet rewarding, and of course to make sure it fits with our Manifesto. The genre of the game will be a platformer and it will have all of the basic platformer mechanics (i.e. jumping, wall-jumping, etc.) but it will also contain extra mechanics which are more dependent on the character you play as.
The artwork and soundtrack at this point are also great, but that will be shown to you, rather than discussed, in the upcoming blogs as I have no idea how to describe forms of art. All I can say really is that the art-style is modern (not 8-bit) and the music sounds amazing!
