Hello everyone and welcome to the fourth instalment of the 2D Platformer Game Blog! Unfortunately the blog this month will be fairly short as not much has happened regarding the game, but due to changes within the studio there will be a knock on effect on the game.
Firstly, one major change has happened with the studio, which is unfortunately a major team restructure as everyone else has left or been dismissed (for undisclosed reasons). This will have a massive effect on the current and future games that the studio develops. Due to the downsizing of the studio itself, I have decided to downsize the game as well. This means that, instead of the originally planned 80+ levels, there will now only be a few levels. Although this is mainly a negative, it creates a lot more opportunity for the game itself. The game can now be released on more platforms than before, various ideas can be tested and implemented, and a lot more effort can go into a smaller portion of the game. Okay, so now that I have mentioned the setbacks, I can now go into discussing the progress I have made regarding the project. Firstly, wall jumping and double jumping have been added to the game, along with the first few prototype levels being created. Wall jumping and double jumping, as you probably know, are two major features which are unique to platformers, hence felt necessary to add. These two features add a lot of diversity to the game and provide the player with a whole new way to play.
